SECTIONALS INFORMATION
I will do my best to post updates to either Facebook or the blog over the weekend so that those of you that can’t make it out can still keep track of how everybody is doing.
From the Event Coordinator:
Good afternoon affiliates, volunteers, spectator and competing athletes!!
I hope you are all as excited as I am for sectionals, cause they’re almost here! This email is to give you some additional information, clarify a few of the finer details, and just generally and get you up to speed on some additional happenings. Please read all the way through, there’s a lot of good stuff in here!
General Information for Everyone:
When you get to Stone Mountain, you will not need to pay any entry fees. All of that is covered by your registration. Just drive up to the main gate and let the attendant know that you’re there for the CrossFit event. “CrossFit” is the magic word, so after that you’ll be in. There will be signs directing you to the special events area, but, so you have an idea of where you’re going: go straight through the gate and continue straight until the fork in the road. Go to the Right at the fork, then turn Right onto the first street immediately after the fork. Parking will be all the way up/down that street, as well as some room for tents/tailgate sites. Entry/check-in for the event will be immediately after parking, and anyone planning to pay for entry/registration there will need to have cash, exact change ($25/day) if possible. Cash is a safe bet for anything you’d like to buy, so it’s advised to carry some with you.
We have a schedule available on the Rumble website, so, if you are looking for event time information, check there. This schedule is as correct and current as possible, but, we all know the nature athletic competitions, so please don’t be offended if changes/updates to the schedule become necessary. Check back with the website regularly, as any updates (to the schedule or otherwise) will be posted there first.
Children 12 and under will get in for free, and dogs are welcome. There’s a fenced in park near the pavilion, but leash laws apply throughout the park, so please respect that. Also, if you bring dogs, please make sure you have bags on hand and clean up their poopsies.
It’s supposed to be very cold, so please dress in lots of layers! Bring blankets if you’d like, just be prepared! Some snacks and water will be available for volunteers/judges, but everyone needs to pack a cooler with whatever food, water and other recreational beverages you’d like for the duration of the day. There are restaurants in the park for people interested.
There will be room for tailgate tents and lawn chairs, so please bring what you’d like, but be considerate of walkways and set up any tents along the fence if you want to be near the WOD lot.
We’ll have a bunch of sponsors/vendors set up in the pavilion, so take advantage! Life As Rx, Quest, MindBody, Sorinex, Faction, BodyMetrics, SKINS, Mojo Gym Gear, Lululemon, and many others will all be there. Be sure to make it over to the pavilion to check out all the goods. A few special notes – Quest and Faction are both taking orders NOW if you’d like to pre-order any merchandise. As a pre-order incentive, Quest will pay the 6% sales tax on all pre-orders, and will be offering an additional 10% discount on Sports Nutrition products. Faction will allow people to pre-order equipment here and will accept any form of payment, but credit cards are preferred. Mojo Gym Gear is providing plyo boxes for the event and will be selling all 24″ competition boxes at a 20% discount ($125 ->$100), but will only accept cash on site. Pre-ordering and buying equipment at the event are both a great way to save on shipping costs, so get your gym stocked by our sponsors!
Notes for the Competitors:
Pre-registration is available at BTB Ponce from 7:30 – 8:30 PM on Friday, February 19, 2010. Feel free to come by.
Individual athletes will all have bib #s. You MUST keep your shirt on while competing! If you take your shirt off, you are voluntarily removing your bib, and therefore no longer competing, i.e. – you are automatically disqualified from that event. It’ll be too cold to go shirtless anyway, so just stay clothed.
Team competitors, we were serious about matching/having a theme. You all won’t have bib #s, so make sure we can tell you’re a team!
We’ve tried to cover all the loopholes with rules for standards between our written rules and the demonstration videos. We all know good movement and bad movement, so rather than “testing the judges” and possibly losing a rep, please ask any questions you may have about movements prior to the workout. Arguing with the judges will NOT be tolerated. If you disagree with a judge during your workout, you will be given 1 warning. If you continue to give your judge shit, that’s an automatic DQ. Please respect the judges.
Thank you all so much for your involvement in this great event. You all are the reason we have such a wonderful CrossFit Community. This email has a lot of important information, so make sure everyone you know that’s coming to Sectionals has gotten it by forwarding it along if needed. After all, sharing is caring…
Now – GET PUMPED and we will see you this weekend!!

Stumble CrossFit Peachtree!

Good luck to all of the competitors!
Super excited — can hardly wait!!
Make sure you kick some ass Khaki! We’re all rooting for the CFPT participants!
Good Luck!!! I’ll be there cheering for you!
It was so warm last year…if only it was going to be warm this year…
Good luck everyone!
for those of you that drink coffee and miss your dairy creamer: http://www.turtlemountain.com/products/coconut_milk_creamer.html
WOD 1: shoveling out the snow. WOD 2: later tonight, whatever it is!
GOOD LUCK TO CFPT ATHLETES THIS WEEKEND!
Good luck this weekend everyone! I know you will do great!
Last year’s competition was a blast! Lots of jager!
This years team event should be even better.
I’m more excited to watch our individuals compete because they’ve been training LONG and HARD. Unlike me who has almost 3 full weeks under my belt (sorry team GTL)
AK, I’m hoping that you dig deep and find the strength within you to keep your shirt on and not DQ your team.
Do you guys know what time everyone is WODing tomorrow? Want to make sure I don’t miss anyone!! Taylor said his first WOD is at 9:15… what about the rest of you individuals?
Jimbo.. I’m harassing you but just wanted to make sure you got the confirmation for the games this weekend. I sent it to your gmail account.
Palgon… please don’t encourage any men to keep their shirt on at the games … I didn’t pay all this money for nuthin.
Feel free to encourage the keeping of the shirt on in situations such as an all you can eat chinese buffet, plumbers, and overeaters anonymous meetings. Thanks.
Good luck everyoneeee! Make that mountain crumblllle this weekend!
I’m scared for liz’s workout. Maybe a chug n run to kick off the sectionals cheer squad?
Dirty, I was only encouraging AK; even Matthew Mcconaughey wears a shirt more often than AK. For the record, I did not encourage any of the ladies.
Liz is like that cute little puppy that you want to pet and cuddle… until it turns Kujo on your arse when you get to close.
Veronic is a close second…
Warm up from the 6:00 class last night
Liz: Okay everyone do 10 burpees
Veronica: Can we do them with the wall balls?
Liz: good idea
Veronica: can we do a squat with them too at the end of the burpees?
Liz: even better idea Veronica!
It was a massive spiral downward with these two last night.
hehehehe
I have no idea what you just said Palgon bc you just put the glorious vision of matthew mcconaugHAAAAAYYYYY in my head. If that dude was taller… it almost wouldn’t be legal.
Individual athletes will all have bib #s. You MUST keep your shirt on while competing!
These people clearly don’t realize they are in the entertainment business…I can see the skanks revolting tomorrow…
Good luck this wknd CFPT individuals and teams! I’m out of town, sorry I can’t make it – do work
Dirty, I thought it was phenomenal and passed that med ball love onto my 6:30 class…outside!!
Good luck this wknd CFPT individuals and teams! I’m out of town, sorry I can’t make it – do work move weight
Liz, glad to see it isn’t just the Sunday class that is getting the love. That is what we pay for…
Jenn, you twisted my words…but only slightly.
Just wait until it is warmer outside. Then I will have plenty of room to inflict all sorts of pain on my victims.
The outcome was the same V
….
note to self: find out the nights Veronica trains hahahha just kiddin…
Bahahaha! Those of you on Nick’s team better keep a close eye on him regarding that shirt rule. I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed him complete a workout without the unrelenting urge to show off the blurry, unrecognizable tattoo on his chest.
Becca, I don’t know what kind of US History you had growing up, (rural Georgia, I am guessing none), but I thought everyone in our gym could recognize Thomas Jefferson. I feel very patriotic whenever Nick pulls off his shirt in 20 degree weather..
Khaki- can you go ahead and tell me what times you train next week so I can avoid that hella warm-up in my last week at CFPT before moving to Tampa to try and find an affiliate that compares to this hot mess of a gym I’ve come to love, er, hate, er, love…
Jill- you out there? Can you email me the extra ticket today to lis.saunders@gmail.com? I can bring you cash tonight or tomorrow to The Rock.
Good luck tomorrow everyone…competitors especially, but also the spectators, in your quest to quench that eye-candy craving.
Unless you want a contact drunk, no one get too close tomorrow. And don’t ask me to lift my shades under any circumstances. Tonight is my going away party, so tomorrow won’t be pretty
Lis.. you and I can stand together tomorrow and smell like a bar. I’m not planning on getting to crazy as it is not MY bday but my best friends… but you all know how that goes.
What’s this $hit about you leaving us??? NO!!
Yes, now that I found this amazing Crossfit bod, I must move Tampa so I can become the female version of Matthew McConnaugHHHHHEEEEEYYY and frolic shirtless on the beaches regularly. That, or I’m moving home to help my folks out and be closer to family. Or both. Can’t it be both!?!?
I depart for FL on Wed, March 10, but my last day at CFPT is next Thurs…I’m going to NOLA next wknd for a friend’s 30th bday, where I certainly will not get drunk or take my shirt off for beads/shots/bar tab, etc
Good luck to everyone competing this weekend!! I am hoping to be part of the cheer squad but alas it is MY birthday weekend and will be smelling of bar on both saturday and sunday. If I do make it out there I will stand with Lis and Jenn Mc.
Lis – this constitutes a beer Thursday next week fo sho. So sad you are leaving us!
Ahhh Matthew…
Amy – if the three of us stand together this weekend … people around us need to be careful of a DUI on the way home. HAPPY BORN ON DATE!!!
This no taking your shirt off rule is dumb. Just like boys.
Beer Thursday next week. Game. On.
There’s a chance I’ll hit one last WOD at the Wed noon class on 3/10 before I roll outta town…but since that class consists of 1 to 6 of us each week, I’ll go with BEER THURSDAY NEXT WEEK. Great idea dirty. See you (smell you) tomorrow.
Hey guys – I’m coming with a friend from Crossfit Macon to spectate on Sunday – will the CFPT cheering section still be there?
I am not against Beer Nooner on a wednesday Lis… just sayin.
BTW everyone… not only is it Amy E’s bday on Sunday.. but it’s Bridget’s bday as well.
Wow, B! What a great day February 28th is!! Happy early birthday to you!!
and thanks dirty!
but everyone needs to pack a cooler with whatever food, water and other recreational beverages you’d like for the duration of the day
Looks like they are OK with beer for tomorrow, which is good.
Your new name is Loose Lips, Dirty…so much for keeping it on the DL
Thanks Amy
Hey guys – looks like a bunch of volunteers and judges bailed on the event last minute. if any of you want to help out at any point over the weekend, just let them know when you check in that you can help out (if you want to).
Level 1 trainers – if you are available to help judge, even just an event or two, also let them know. i know they probably need help judging the team WODs.
This weekend is going to be legit with all the bdays and festive competition. I’ll bring the party favors
Happy Birthday Amy and B!! I agree with James, this weekend is going to be awesome
See yall at the mountain. I think two coolers may in order; one food, one jello shots for celebrating CFPTers. People still do those right?
I’m new to CFPT (and certaintly to the shenanigans on this blog), but I wanted to wish everyone competiting tomorrow good luck!
And I’d also like to give thanks to Becca for making me look like a cripple at my office with those front squats yesterday. I chose wrong . . .
I’m new to CFPT (and certaintly to the shenanigans on this blog)
Kevin, on behalf of the CFPT skanks, welcome to the blog. Anyone who spells certainly that way, just to sneak taint into the conversation is A-Okay with me!
and there it is…
just to sneak taint into the conversation
Delicate Southern Blossom, you…
So I bought a t shirt from the crossfit gym I went to last night and I realized I don’t have one from cfpt. Ray or B, do we have any in stock or do we only order ‘em online?
you’re welcome.
i, too, need to score a CFPT shirt before i ride dirty (yeah i said it) down to Tampa.
Hey Dan we are currently designing some shirts….stay tuned
Kevin, on behalf of the CFPT skanks, welcome to the blog. Anyone who spells certainly that way, just to sneak taint into the conversation is A-Okay with me!
Wait, skanks is a good thing now?
I knew from my brief time here that any misstep would be quickly pointed out and preyed upon, but I never thought I’d fall victim to that so quickly.
Kevin, we will be adding another module to the training and orientation package focused on the blog, nicknames, skanks, and taint to ball wall ball technique… Stay tuned….
Skanks is a great thing. Drunk skanks burping is even better. Delicate Southern Skanks run rampant ’round CFPT.
I am apparently going to have a busy next couple of weeks with all this ridin dirty. Yes.. I cerTAINTly will.
Kevin… for the record… I love the word shenanigans. It’s really not used enough. Welcome to the blog.
